About Dianne

I have been involved with Guiding and Scouting most of my life. Moving up
through Brownies and Guides before becoming a Cub Leader in Luton with a new Scout Group we formed in my local church in 1967. When my family returned to Leicestershire, I joined a local Group in the role of ACSL and then CSL in a newly formed Group in the next village.

After getting married and having my children I took on the role of CSL in my own area of Leicestershire in 1980. During my 28 years with the Group, I also held the role of Acting GSL and District CSL and helped to organise and run District sports and other events and camps.

Outside of Scouting I worked as a Teacher and Key Stage one Co-ordinator in a large Primary School. I was able to use knowledge and skills from my work alongside my knowledge and skills from Scouting to help young people with their learning both in the school setting and in the Scout Group.

We moved to Spain in 2008, and my husband Alan and I both took on leadership roles with 1st Fuengirola Scout Group. My current role with the Group is CSL and I work with our leadership team to run the Cub and Beaver meetings. Over the years I have supported several Young Leaders, by providing them with opportunities to gain leadership skills in their work with the Cubs and Beavers and validated their modules as they worked through the Young Leader Scheme.

Having taken on the role of Training Advisor in Southern Europe in 2015, I accepted the role of Local Learning Lead for Southern Europe in 2024, which enables me to continue supporting adults with their learning.

Throughout my 50+ years as a leader I have enjoyed many adventures and hopefully passed on my enthusiasm for scouting to young people and adults that I have worked with. I continue to gain great satisfaction from helping young people and adults learn “skills for life”.
